This past January, students from south-western Ontario got together for Winter Conference 2012. Through scripture, worship, and teaching, students were challenged to take risks as they caught vision for God's multi-ethnic community. Here are some stories written by students that share their experience of God in their lives:
This past WinterCon was a very memorable experience for me. It had been my second time at the conference and a full year since I made the decision to pursue and learn more about God. The past year had been an amazing journey of growth and love, but also of hardships and obstacles in my faith. I was always afraid to completely say “yes” to God, to let Him take control of my life, because I knew it would be difficult and uncomfortable. I knew it would push me to my limits, and I didn’t know if I could take it. But after years of struggling with my faith, and one year of trying to say “yes”, I was finally able to take that leap during a worship and prayer session at WinterCon. As I worshipped and prayed to God, I was able to let go of my fears, doubts, and insecurities about myself and devoted my life to Jesus. I decided to go on a missions trip to China this summer, which is something that I’ve never considered before, and I also decided to get baptized this coming Easter. It didn’t matter that I felt unprepared to do God’s work or that I still lacked in biblical knowledge. I, for the first time, was able to explicitly say that I will devote my life to God and fully mean it, and to me, that is one of the most meaningful and memorable moments of my life.
